DR. KIM WILLIAMS independent consultant
PROFILE
Dr. Kim Williams is a management and governance consultant to nonprofit executives and governing boards. Her
expertise is based on twenty years experience as an educator, nonprofit executive, seminar
speaker and small business owner.
While completing her Doctoral degree in Education, Dr. Williams examined how effective organizations achieve sustainable results by building strategic leadership capacity within their agencies and throughout the communities they serve.
During her years as an educator and university lecturer, Dr. Williams taught a broad cross section of students—child and adult, gifted and challenged— from culturally and socioeconomically diverse communities.
As a nonprofit executive, Dr. Williams combined her experience in building leadership capacity with her knowledge of systems thinking to promote a culture of strategic planning, value-added leadership, and clearly defined measures of success.
Through her consulting practice Dr. Williams partners with nonprofit agencies and community organizations to build individual and institutional capacity in the areas of governance, strategy, succession and transition.
In addition to her consulting practice, Dr. Williams teaches courses in nonprofit governance, leadership and strategic planning for California State University, Northridge, and UCLA Extension. She also conducts seminars on nonprofit board development for the Center for Nonprofit Management, the Junior League of Los Angeles Board Fellows Program and the Riordan Volunteer Leadership Development Program.
With twenty years experience in organizations large and small, new and established, Dr. Williams understands the leadership challenges unique to each type of enterprise. Her clients are board members and executive leaders who build capacity by thinking strategically, operating efficiently, and communicating effectively. These skills are valuable to any organization that measures its success by improving the human condition.
